- Profusely illustrated with 1756 Illustrations - line drawings,
half tones and lithographic plates; Frontpiece portrait, 1756 illustrations
in the text, and a 32 page . central insert with 17 horse engravings on glossy
stock
- 10" x 7 1/4" hardbound and the book is 3 1/2 inches thick
(see photo below)
- Over 1200 pages
- Magners book (first
printed 1893) was a standard reference for nearly three decades, and has been
reprinted as recently as 1980. Early editions, however, are difficult to find
in acceptable condition
- Brown cloth, cover stamped in black and gold.
- The burgundy leather of the spine is there for the most part, but it
is in pieces and fragile.
- All of the pages are firmly attached to the
binding and the front board is still firmly attached.
- However, the back
board has separated from the back end paper.
- Other blemishes are minor
- the cover edges are a bit bumped.
- All pages are intact, clean, no mars,
no writing, no tears. Interior very good.
- There even is the original
tissue paper on the title page protecting the author's photograph.
- This
first edition has many excellent attributes that makes it a candidate for some
TLC and restoration.
