Foxing
is a term used for the small brown irregular blemishes (specs, spots and blotches)
that occur on old books, prints and other paper goods caused by exposure to extremes
in temperature or humidity and/or the aging of the chemicals used in processing.
Foxing usually occurs on machine made paper of the late 18th and the 19th centuries. |
