Turquoise Horse Fetish Necklace

Turquoise Horse Fetish Necklace

Turquoise Horse Fetish Necklace

  • 15 carved horses adorn this necklace. One large horse in the center and 14 smaller horses, 7 on either side.
  • The necklace is 32 inches long.
  • It fastens together with traditional Indian silver cone ends and hook and eye closure.
  • The material between the horses is heisi. Heishi means shell and refers to shell or other materials such as turquoise that has been drilled and made into beads for use on necklaces.
  • It was a dead pawn item and we do not know if it was Native American made.
  • We do not know the origin of this item or the material.
  • The horses appear to be made from block turquoise, which is a man-made turquoise.
  • Small horses are 1 1/4" x 1/2".
  • Large horse is 1 1/2" x 1 1/4".
  • They have black eyes. Each horse has a unique variegation to it's color pattern.
  • A lovely necklace. Very bright and cheerful.
