Derrick
Gordon - Navajo Sterling Silver | ||||||||||||||||||
Mnassa Turquoise Stone beautifully set in smooth bezel.
The substantial sterling silver stock is masterfully stamped and oxidized for a rich antique finish.
| Paula says - "I love the vintage Navajo stone bracelets but they are so scarce that they sell at collector's prices. That's why I'm so glad such talented contemporary artists such as Derrick Gordon, Donovan and Darrel Cadman and Sunshine Reeves use many design elements reminiscent of the vintage bracelets so we have fine pieces to wear!"

Derrick Gordon Derrick Gordon was born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1971. He learned silversmithing from his uncle, Delbert Gordon, and began creating his own designs in 1990. He is dedicated to keeping the old designs while making improvements. He's considered a revivalist artists and definitely one of the best. He marks his pieces "Derrick" with a stylized triangulated D. King's Manassa Turquoise (Conejos County, Colorado) is best known for its brilliant greens and golden and brown non-webbed matrices, but blue and blue-green stone is found there as well. This site, east of the town of Manassa, was originally mined by Ancestral Pueblo peoples. It was rediscovered in 1890 by gold prospector I.P. King, and his descendants still work the claim.
