What is a Fetish?

A fetish is a rock carving of an animal that captures the spirit and the essence of the animal, not necessarily its exact detailed conformation. Read more about fetishes.

Jet (Acoma Jet) - A solid, durable type of lignite coal that originated from wood material. It is mined around the Acoma Pueblo region, among other places, thus the name Acoma Jet. It is very popular with Indian artists for carving fetishes. It is also used for inlaying jewelry but usually is not used in jewelry stone sets. Read about stones.

BAT MEDICINE: Bat is the treasured medicine of the Aztec, Toltec, Tolucan, and Mayan people. Bat's medicine symbolizes rebirth, this medicine symbolizes the transposing of our former self into a different being. Bat says let go of old habits, and don't resist our destiny, if Spirit says it will happen, it will. If we resist our destiny, it can be painful, long, drawn out. With bat medicine, the universe is asking us to grow and become our future. In order to do this, we must accept change. Bat Medicine is also the Shaman in us, growing through Spirit in order to help others.
