Paula says - "The band of a 3-wire bracelet is made by forming three separate wires and joining the ends. This makes a large base to attach decorative elements and also makes the bracelet cooler to wear. Read more . . .

"In my opinion, this bracelet shows all the design characteristics and workmanship of being Navajo made. But because there is no hallmark that we can attribute to a specific artist we can't legally sell it as Native American made - read more."

A knowledgeable friend had this to say: "It's more of a 1970s style, the plain smooth bezel and twisted rope design shows that. The silver raindrops are hand made hot silver dropped in water. Modern raindrop beads are usually perfectly round and smooth since they are made in molds."

Horsekeeping LLC Native American PawnThe Auntie T Collection

Old Auntie T had a great eye for vintage Native American jewelry and collected for many years. She often purchased highly collectible, important pieces that had one small stone missing or a very minor area of damage.

When she passed away, she left the items to her niece who admittedly had no interest in them yet was reluctant to let them go. We gladly restored these items to their original glory and are offering them with respect to Old Auntie T. Good eye Auntie T!!

NOTE: Items in our Vintage Shop are either USED or NEW. They might come from inheritances, estate sales, private collections, and store liquidations. Many items are brand new (NOS, New Old Stock) and in perfect condition while others may show tarnish, scratches and other signs of use. Major issues will be described in detail and shown in photos. Vintage Shop items are sold as described and are not returnable.

Bisbee turquoise was a by-product of copper mining near Bisbee, Arizona. It is known mainly for its brilliant blue color and smoky webbing. Bisbee turquoise was found at all levels of the copper mine from 100 to 2000 feet and the quality and coloration varies widely from layer to layer. Often the stones have a matrix of brown, gray or black, but clear stones of blues and greens have also come from the Bisbee mine. There was never that much turquoise mined in Bisbee to begin with and now the mine is closed. What remains today is in the hands of old miners and long-time collectors. Because of its hardness, quality and scarcity Bisbee turquoise is one of the most valued turquoise in the world today.

Why isn't this item called Native American?

The US Department of the Interior Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990 and its recent Amendments require that items described as Native American or Indian be made by an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. Furthermore, government regulations suggest that all attributions include the Native American Indian's name, tribe and federal tribal enrollment number. Because it is impossible to identify the artist for many vintage items, even if they are authentic Indian made items, we cannot and will not use the words Native American or Indian in association with such pieces.
