Paula says - "Cedar is a natural repellent to moths and other insects so the interior is left untreated to allow the cedar aroma to be released. If the aroma of your box fades over the years you can refresh it by lightly sanding the interior.
"These boxes were made in the USA. The grain pattern of cedar wood is beautiful and varied - each box will be slightly different from the one pictured.
"The exterior has a urethane and oil finish can be treated with a light coat of paste wax from time to time to keep it looking nice. This large cedar box will give you many years (or generations) of service!"
Brass hasp with padlock and key.
Grain pattern, knots and colors will vary from the boxes pictured.
Cedar Medicine (Hante Pejuta - Lakota) is an important part of Lakota belief and
ritual. Cedar is used for purifying, cleansing, and smudging. It is part of an
herbal blend smoked in ceremonial pipes, particularly to please Wakinyan (Winged-One
or Thunderbird). To protect one from lightning (said to be sent by Wakinyan) cedar
is burned, not to repel Wakinyan but out of respect.
