Monroe - Lakota
Paula says - "You may have heard of Ledger Art, where Indians used the materials at hand, such as old ledger paper from forts and missions, on which to paint and draw. Well, this is Cigar Box Art, a creative repurposing of vintage cigar boxes by Lakota artist Alan Monroe.
"This vintage cigar box box has a catlinite peyote bird on the lid. The designs are burned into the wood and then painted. Use this treasure box to store smudge supplies such as sweetgrass, sage or other herbs and ceremonial items, or use it as a jewelry or keepsake box."
