What Is a Hatband?A hatband is a decorative band worn around the base of a hat crown. In Native American jewelry, hatbands may be made in sterling silver, leather, hair pipe, pipestone, or concho styles, and may include turquoise, coral, onyx, lapis, white buffalo stone, and other materials. Many Navajo hatbands showcase detailed silversmithing, using hand-stamped silverwork, bezel-set stones, cast elements, and linked conchos. Some are bold statement pieces, while others are slimmer, more understated bands suitable for daily wear. These hatbands are wearable art and collectible pieces, handmade by Native American artisans. |
