Spiny Oyster, not surprisingly, is an oyster that is covered with spines. It is found along the coast of Baja California and Baja Mexico. Its shell ranges from shades of vibrant red to oranges and purples, with definite striations and variation of the colors. Red spiny oyster is sometimes used as a subsititute for coral.
