Merle House, Jr. - Navajo
Two adobes on a mesa surrounded by planets and stars in a jet sky.
About Merle House Jr.
Merle House Jr. is from the Ganado, Arizona area. He is in his twenties and has been learning silversmithing and stone inlay work from his father-in-law, award winning Navajo silversmith Ervin P. Tsosie. Ervin's work is highly regarded and collected worldwide. He hand cuts gemstones and other materials such as jet, coral, lapis, malachite, turquoise and makes intricate murals based on ceremonial and mythical figures. Merle creates his own designs, yet the similarity of his style to the work of his mentor, Ervin, is unmistakable. Their micro inlay creations are amazing - it appears as if they are filling a blank canvas with intricate strokes of stone.
