Lakota Feather Hair Ties | ||
The feather hair ties shown below were made by Lakota Sioux tribal members. The large hand painted "eagle" and "hawk" feathers are made by Alan Monroe of Hot Spring, South Dakota. All of the other feathers were made by a family from Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. They use feathers of domestic birds such as geese and turkeys and they prize the feathers that are shed of pet birds such as parrots and cockatoos. Read about Lakota Sioux Indians. Hair Ties are traditionally worn by Native American dancers but you can use them in a variety of ways: -
