If you have your own horse and need new things to try and things to help you warm
up this book is a must for you! Ride along with this splendid book!
This little book is jam-packed with tips, advice and guidance. It explains the basic gaits and tells you how to ride them. The author's clear explanations are a great help for finding the proper position on a horse and for helping a rider learn to feel what the horse is doing. And the book is small enough to tuck in your jacket while riding for quick reference. It's like a mini "how-to" manual for English riding that gives excellent guidance to those who want it.
This book was very, very helpful to me. I was what is called a rank adult beginner when I bought this book. It provided me with clear directives to go along with my weekly lessons. I've learned how to post correctly, work on my sitting trot, ride a corner properly, make big, round circles, and even canter. When my instructor said I passed the test at the end of the book, I was thrilled! I've already purchased the Intermediate book and although I know it might take longer until I can take the Intermediate test, I like the step-by-step approach of these books. I'm very goal oriented. I'm psyched.
This arena pocket guide is an excellent riding instruction tool. In concise language Cherry Hill gives easy-to-follow exercises for the intermediate rider. The goals of these exercises are to 1) improve the rider's balance and use of the aids; 2) increase suppleness in the horse through bending; 3) improve transitions 4) develop lateral work 5) and begin collection. The book, made of sturdy cardstock, is just the right sized to stick in a back pocket, so you never have to leave the barn without it. Each exercise is covered in one to two pages and comes with clear illustrations. Ms. Hill includes a total of ten exercises in her book and closes with an intermediate riding test. This book is a must have for the rider who cannot afford weekly riding lessons or who needs help working on fundamental intermediate riding skills. Highly recommended.
If you are a dedicated English horseman and would like to know some extra exercises you can practice in the ring, this book is for you! Provides fun, maneuvers and exercises to perform. Although, some exercises may be difficult to perform or understand. Over all, this is a great buy if you have quite a bit of experience and desire a challenge. |
