Day is Near!
With Mother's
Day just around the corner, I have some ideas to help you choose something special
for your Mother, your Mother in Law, your Grandmother or even your Wife !! Grandmother
Pin The Grandmother Pin (also known as
a Mother Pin or a Cluster Pin) is a stone cluster pin (or pin-pendant) made by
a Navajo or Zuni artist. It is meant to symbolize the matriarch of the family
at the center with the family members and their families radiating outward. Traditionally
a cluster pin is made of turquoise, but occasionally we will see an all coral
or other stone cluster pin. See our Pin
and our Pin
Pendants for ideas.

Grandmother
Necklace
The Quandelacy family of
the Zuni pueblo has a tradition called the Grandmother Necklace which is a fetish
necklace made of birds and animals - one animal carved by each member of the family
and presented to Grandmother or Mother. See our Fetish
Necklaces for ideas. Mother
of Pearl - Just because of its name, Mother of Pearl items make great Mother's
Day gifts. It is a very popular stone, actually shell, with Zuni and Navajo silversmiths.
We have some very nice items in our pawn
shop, pendants,
pin-pendants,
and bracelets.

! It's
a pin, it's a pendant, it's both On the back
of a pin-pendant there is a locking pin as well as a pendant hanger. The hanger
might be a loop or a Shepherd's Hook. This way the piece can be used as a pin
or a pendant. See
pin pendants. Previous Editions

of Pearl is a clear white translucent shell, sometimes has a little striation.
MOP is the common name for iridescent nacre, a blend of minerals that are secreted
by oysters, abalone, and other mollusks and deposited inside their shells, coating
and protecting their bodies from parasites and foreign objects. Mother-of-Pearl
is said to stimulate intuition, sensitivity, imagination, and adaptability and
help with clarity in decision making. Mother of Pearl stirs and awakens the primordial
memory of your origin in the infinite ocean of divine love and stirs this memory
in every cell of your physical body thereby producing an overall calming effect
as it gently stirs the life energy of your cells. Like waves lapping the shore,
this stirring is steady, relaxing, and rhythmical. |
