This is the eleventh in a series about the state of fiction writing today along with updates on my debut novel, Becoming Amber, which will be released later this year.

This newsletter is short and sweet and it contains a quiz!
Once the copy edited manuscript has been approved by the author, the manuscript is sent to the next team, Interior Layout. This team sets the width of the margins, adds an image to chapter openers, and places breaks in the text, with or without dinkuses. A dinkus can be one or more symbols, or an image, or a row of:

or bullet symbols

or an
image
The manuscript is converted to a PDF and starts to look like a book. In fact, the file sent back to the author look very much like eBook pages.
In addition to seeing the interior design, this stage is the last time an author gets the chance to easily change anything in the manuscript. After interior design, changes are much more difficult and can result in a domino effect of reformatting.
