Paula says - "Prior to 1948 there was no requirement by the Mexican government to mark silver jewelry pieces. In 1948 it was required that silver pieces be marked with the Eagle Assay mark along with place of production and silver content in decimal equivalent such as .925. Lack of these marks dates this pin to pre-1948."
