Paula says - "My Lakota friends have told me various mirror board stories. Some say that they are used when applying face paint before a pow wow and then held during dancing. If a man catches a woman's reflection in his mirror, he has captured her heart! Others say that they were primarily used for signaling. And a few have said they are portals - supernatural connections to the sun and other celestial bodies. "
