Paula says - "You are buying two watch tips. The term Watch Tips refers to the two Native American made decorative panels that connect the timepiece to the expansion band.

"We include at no extra charge an expansion band and the new timepiece pictured here. (Neither of these are sterling silver nor Native American made). The timepiece will be running when it leaves here. We are selling you the tips only - the timepiece and band are included free of charge, we make no warranty on the timepiece or band. With that said, I have never had one of these watches fail me, but then I don't wear my watch in the shower or while doing dishes."

Band and Timepiece Replacement

If you want to replace the timepiece or the band but your local jeweler is not familiar with Native American jewelry, we can recommend an excellent shop that we use for all of our jewelry repairs. After purchase from us, you can send the watch to them for a new watch face, and a face lift - anything from a light cleaning to a full polishing. - Paula

About Peterson Johnson

Peterson Johnson is a self-taught artist who has won numerous awards throughout the Southwest and whose work is sought by collectors around the world. He was born in 1956 and began creating silverwork in 1976. He is very well known for his traditional Navajo jewelry, which shows meticulous workmanship and has a distinctive Peterson flair.

Peterson is known among fellow artists as "the machine" because he is SO meticulous in every detail of his work. The box clasps on his bracelet watches, for example, are finely tuned works of art. All of his jewelry is crafted with skill and precision to last a lifetime and be passed along to many generations.

Peterson and his wife Alyce live in Gallup, New Mexico and travel to art fairs and pow wows year round throughout the USA displaying Peterson's silver work and Alyce's beadwork.

About Silver

100% solid silver won't tarnish but it is too soft to use for making jewelry - it could easily be scratched, dented and bent. Sterling silver has a small amount of one or more other metals usually copper, added to the silver. To be called sterling silver, the alloy must contain at least 92.5% pure silver. Sterling silver alloy is harder than pure silver but the added metals also can cause discoloration or tarnish.
