Paula says - "We seldom see Lakota fetish carvings. The Zuni are most widely recognized for their animal fetish carving tradition. Lakota fetish carving is more personal, less commercialized and less represented in mainstream art markets compared to the Zuni. Delbert Charging Crow's animal fetishes are especially rare since he is no longer carving. We were fortunate to have found this bear on our last trip to South Dakota. "Here's your chance to own an authentic, hard-to-find Lakota bear fetish!"

About PipestonePipestone, also known as catlinite, is a form of clay called argillite with a high iron content that colors it a deep red to pale orange. Pipestone was discovered in southwestern Minnesota by the Sioux Indians, who consider it a sacred material and use it to carve pipes and other ceremonial objects. It is easy to carve because of its lack of quartz. The catlinite quarries located at Pipestone National Monument are considered sacred to many Native American people.
