About PipestonePipestone, also known as catlinite, is a form of clay called argillite with a high iron content that colors it a deep red to pale orange. Pipestone was discovered in southwestern Minnesota by the Sioux Indians, who consider it a sacred material and use it to carve pipes and other ceremonial objects. It is easy to carve because of its lack of quartz. The catlinite quarries located at Pipestone National Monument are considered sacred to many Native American people. Rabbit SymbolismRabbit represents gentleness, charm, and awareness of others. Rabbit is the special guardian of pregnant women, enabling safe birthing and a long life for children. Rabbit also teaches how to handle fear by first acknowledging it and then letting go. Rabbit says to focus on the good in our lives, not the bad - instead of imagining negative "what-ifs", focus on positive "what is". |
