Butterfly Symbolism

Butterfly represents transformation, the ability to go through changes in life with grace and lightness, like the plain caterpillar changing into a colorful butterfly. Butterfly's bright colors symbolize liveliness and playfulness. Butterfly helps us look at heavy and tense situations with a new, lighter perspective.

What is Onyx Marble?

Onyx marble (also called mexican onyx and banded calcite) is a type of calcite, one of the most common minerals present in the earth's crust. It is somewhat translucent and banded colors include shades of yellow, pink, red, gray, and green. Onyx marble is quarried, among other places, in Mexico, California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and Virginia.

True onyx is a different material, a very hard quartz stone (chalcedony) that is usually solid black or with bands of black and white. It is very hard and thus rarely used for hand-carved fetishes, but is quite popular for fine jewelry such as rings, pendants, earrings and necklaces.
