From Henry Wolf: "I have been beading for 50 years now. My mother (Wanita) taught me. She was Pottowatamie, Lakhota and Cherokee. My great-great-grandmother, great-grandmother, grandmother and mother were all born in Pottawatomie Co. KS. My grandfather was born in Seward, Oklahoma. They all avoided Rolls and Registrations because of the hate and discrimination against Indigenous peoples at the time, so I have not been able to register anywhere. What is a Hatband?Most hats come with a ribbon band of some kind, narrow to wide. Depending on the hat, this might look the best. Simple. Elegant. Other hats look great with a touch of horsehair either as a separate hatband or as part of the stampede string. Almost any hat looks good with a belt hat band and some look good with beaded hat bands.
