About Lester JacksonLester Jackson is a renowned Navajo silversmith born on May 5, 1951, on the Navajo reservation at Indian Wells, Arizona. He learned silversmithing in 1972 in Holbrook, Arizona, starting with cutting out piece work from silver sheets and gradually perfecting his craft using traditional hand-made tools. Raised by his parents Stella and Ghee Thomas, along with seven siblings, Jackson was exposed to traditional Navajo crafts from a young age. His mother, Stella, was a rug weaver who sold her creations to support the family. Jackson attended boarding school until 8th grade and later completed high school in Oklahoma. |
